Digital Stories

There is no better way to introduce  the work of Juan Miguel Rámirez Such than through the incredible digital collages he has made to welcome DOS STUDIO FW19 collection.

An artist based in Barcelona, than has made of the digital collages the best way to express himself. Through his digital collages he works with images to generate new readings. His work always starts by adapting a real icon to his own fantasy in order to create a story: interstellar robots, organic figures or rock stars, mixed as several pieces to be part of the same set.

"In order to create the DOS STUDIO triptych I started by analyzing  the Brutalism and what were the main elements that characterize its architecture: stone, concrete, brick, metal, glass, typographic elements and key colors such as red, blue and yellow (...) I wanted to create an interior with furniture and decoration elements; something that had metal, like the Wasilly chair, and add something personal like their puppy Agustín, whose colors match with the ones of carpet and the chair. A white background is chosen to show how light enters and illuminates the plant and the space, transmitting a clean and fresh atmosphere"

Indeed, his projects are an excuse to express visually what inspires him, what surrounds him (or simply what happens inside him). Depending on his mood, the outcome translates into something fresher or deeper and visceral but, above all, his three passions, that are the essential source of his inspiration, are always present: cinema, music and fashion.

"I have always found interesting the behavior of light and how it affects materials and objects. So it occurred to me to turn the metal sign of the Bauhaus school into a neon like, to play with the textures and reflections (opaque / translucent materials), to achieve a more industrial, technological and sci-fi look, bring it to my terrain (...) Above all, I wanted to make a dynamic and organic composition in which, in spite of the excess of information around, the garments are the protagonists of this story, framed between the Le Corbusier's statement "Architecture is the learned game, correct and magnificent, of forms assembled in the light", and a shining star, indeed Uranus, the planet that represents originality, technology and revolution."

While he keeps on growing and exploring this technique he also keeps on making collaborations. By working with others, makes himself to be still much more perfectionist. A way to exchange ideas, that he believes, allows more interesting things to happen. After seeing the wonderful DOS STUDIO collages he had made we don't have any doubt about it, do you?

I'm Juan Miguel Ramírez Such, I'm 32 years old, I was born in Alicante and I live in Barcelona. I studied Fine Arts where I trained in different artistic disciplines such as video, painting, illustration ... but it was the printing what led my interest into fashion. After living in London in 2011, I started working as a textile graphic designer and it was during these last years that I started to develop the "Heroines" project where technology coexists with handmade techniques and the expressive use of color. After my first exhibition in Barcelona (2016), I started to work with digital illustration, a technique that has enriched my work since it has opened new possibilities to evolve new ideas, so to be more dynamic and to allow myself to work in a different way
